Breakfast at hotel. We start our tour from the Republic Square, the magnum opus of architect Alexander Tamanian. Continue to Cascade Complex, an open-air museum of modern art. The complex links the downtown with the residential area with massive stairways leading up to the Victory Park providing a fantastic overlook to the entire downtown from above. The monument to Mother Armenia is standing tall in the park carefully guarding the city from above. Next, we are in the Opera House, a remarkable example of urban architecture and a lively hub of the city. Freedom Square is just behind it, surrounded by parks and outdoor cafes which are a favorite spot to spend breezy summer evenings. Our next visit is Parliament Park facing the splendid building of The National Assembly of Armenia. Depart to Garni village. Here we will have a lunch at the unique place. We will visit the house of artist spouses. Their house is full of ancient paintings and their artwork. The housewife – Ruzanna cooks very diverse and unique dishes, and so you will have opportunity to taste it during your lunch visit. Visit Garni Temple. It was built in the 1st c. A.D. by the Armenian King Tiridates and it is dedicated to a heathen god, probably to Mithra, the god of the sun whose figure stood in the depth of the sanctuary. Northeast of Garni, higher up the gorge of the Azat River, there is a magnificent monument of medieval Armenian architecture - Geghard monastery inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage List. Geghard is another incredible ancient Armenian monastery, partly carved out of a mountain. Proceed to Lake Sevan, the Pearl of Armenia and the largest alpine freshwater lake in the Caucasus region. This huge mountain lake, which takes up to 5% of Armenia`s surface area and is about 2,000 meters above sea level is one of the highest among the freshwater lakes in the world. Drive to Yerevan.
