Tunis Street Food Tour

Today, you’ll dive into daily life in the capital with a street food tour through the winding streets of the Medina and parts of the colonial Ville Nouvelle. Known for being quick, affordable, and surprisingly nutritious, Tunisian street food reflects the country’s diverse cultural influences. Many dishes carry names borrowed from Turkish, Italian, or French. For example, Leblebi, derived from the Turkish word for chickpeas, is a chickpea broth served over day-old bread, topped with tuna and a poached egg. Tunisian Fricassé, a savory fried pastry, is filled with ingredients like egg, olives, harissa, capers, and mashed potato. After tasting your way through the morning, there’s no need for a formal lunch. The afternoon is free for you to explore at your leisure, with the option to shop for souvenirs in the souks. If you're interested in traditional arts and crafts, you can join a book-binding class or Arabic calligraphy workshop. Alternatively, enjoy a hammam experience, which includes a steam bath, exfoliation with black soap, and a massage. You may also want to visit the Bardo Museum, home to the world’s most extensive collection of Roman mosaics. Whatever you choose, we are happy to assist with arrangements. Dinner will be at a restaurant of your choice.
