Transfer to the Sacred Valley
After breakfast, you will begin your return to Puerto Maldonado. First, you will travel by boat along the Tambopata River back to the port, then continue by road into the city. Once in Puerto Maldonado, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cusco. On arrival in Cusco, your cultural journey continues with a visit to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, beginning with a stop in the community of Chinchero. Here you will meet local residents and learn about their long tradition of textile production. For centuries, weaving techniques have been passed from generation to generation, and Chinchero remains an important center for this craft. During the visit, you will attend a demonstration where one of the Quechua-speaking weavers explains the designs and patterns used in their textiles. You will also see the process from shearing wool, spinning, and washing it with natural soap, to preparing dyes made from local plants and flowers. The weavers will show you how these natural resources are used to create a wide range of colors that bring their work to life. After this stop, you will continue to Urubamba, where your hotel is located.
