The Spirit of Delphi and Meteora
Your driver will pick you up from your hotel to start your journey toward Delphi and Meteora. Upon arrival at Delphi, you’ll begin your private guided tour of the archaeological site. Delphi, known as the "Navel of the World" in ancient Greece, was once a major sanctuary and the site of the Oracle of Apollo. The view of the valley of Phocis from the Sanctuary of Apollo is stunning, and as you explore the site, your guide will walk you through the ancient rituals, starting at the Castalian Spring, where ancient pilgrims would stop to refresh before seeking Apollo’s guidance. You’ll learn about the steps ancient travelers took before consulting the oracle, and gain insight into the significance of the Pythian Games. After the site tour, you’ll head to the Delphi Archaeological Museum to view important artefacts such as the metopes from the Athenian Treasury, depicting mythological stories, and the famous Sphinx statue, among other pieces that tell the tales of ancient Greece. Following your tour, your driver will take you to a local tavern for lunch (meal costs not included). After lunch, you'll continue your journey to Meteora. Upon arrival, your driver will drop you off at your hotel. In the evening, after you’ve had time to freshen up, your driver will pick you up again and take you to the best spots to admire the stunning sunset views over the Meteora rocks and monasteries.
