Road Trip to Turrialba

Irazu is Costa Rica’s largest and highest active volcano, featuring a striking emerald-green crater lake surrounded by diverse flora and fauna, including various bird species, coatis, armadillos, and mountain rabbits. Take a warm sweater and raincoat for the visit to the chilly heights, with an altitude of 3,432 meters. The day concludes in the scenic area around the small town of Turrialba. This region is rich in agriculture, with Arabica coffee plantations, sugar cane fields, and macadamia nut groves, all set against the backdrop of the Turrialba Volcano. The area is also known for its dramatic rivers, including the renowned Pacuare River, famous for whitewater rafting.
