Sacred Valley Tour: Pisac and Ollantaytambo

You will be picked up from your hotel in Urubamba at 09:00 and travel towards the Urubamba River and the town of Pisac. In Pisac, you will visit the traditional market, where local artisans sell textiles, pottery, and other crafts. You will have about 30 minutes to browse before continuing to the Pisac ruins, located on a hill at the entrance to the valley. At the archaeological site, your guide will lead you through terraces, temples, homes, and storage areas while explaining their significance. Highlights include Inca carvings, altars, tunnels, and the Intihuatana, known as the “hitching post of the sun.” The visit lasts around 90 minutes, though you may choose to spend more time at the market instead and rejoin the group later. You will then continue to Urubamba, where you will stop for lunch (not included). Afterward, a short drive will bring you to Ollantaytambo, once the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti. Here you will explore the Temple of the Sun, see enormous carved stone blocks, and learn about Inca agricultural techniques and water systems. Finally, you will return to the town to see its Inca water channels still in use, before heading back to your hotel in Urubamba.
