Murano and Burano Lagoon

Venice owes much of its character to the lagoon that surrounds it. This tour offers a half-day trip to two of the lagoon’s most well-known islands: Murano and Burano. Each island has its own identity shaped by long-standing local traditions. Your first stop is Murano, located just a short boat ride from Venice. Known around the world for its glassmaking, Murano has been producing glass for centuries. During your visit, you'll stop at a working glass factory to see how skilled artisans shape and create their pieces. You'll also have time to browse the factory's showroom, where you can see a wide range of glassware, from decorative items to jewelry. Next, you’ll continue to Burano, a quiet island known for its colorful houses and long tradition of lace-making. Here, you’ll visit a lace shop where local women continue the craft by hand, using techniques passed down through generations. You’ll learn about the process and have a chance to see finished pieces on display. The tour ends with your return to Venice by boat. It’s a simple and pleasant way to spend a few hours outside the main city while learning about two local crafts that are still valued today.
