Minneriya together with its neighbouring parks Kaudulla and Eco Park are the best places to see wild elephants which are often found in huge numbers. Apart from the elephants, 24 species of mammal are to be found including the sambhur, spotted deer, sloth bear, toque monkey and purple-faced leaf monkey.
