Jaipur Day Visit and Local Experience

In the morning, you will be taking a jeep ride to Amber Fort. This fort-palace is a quintessential example of Rajasthani architecture. The fort's weathered walls are stunning from the outside, but it's the interior that truly impresses. The walls are adorned with miniature paintings depicting scenes of hunting, warfare, and festivals. On the way to Amber Fort, stop briefly for photos at Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds, a place where royal women where able to look out onto the streets from the Palace's vast amount of windows. Next, visit the Maharaja's City Palace, the former royal residence, part of which is now a museum. A small section of the palace is still occupied by the royal family of Jaipur. The palace is built in the style of a fortified complex and covers nearly one-seventh of the city's area. One highlight of the museum is the Armoury section, which showcases an impressive collection of weaponry, including pistols, rifles, swords, and daggers—many of which were once used by the royal family. Afterward, visit Jantar Mantar, the world’s largest stone and marble observatory. In the evening, visit a local family for an authentic cultural experience. Engage in conversation with the family members and enjoy a cooking demonstration followed by dinner. Learn about the history of Rajasthan's royals, their relationship with the Mughals and the British, and the social life of Rajasthan's people today. The women of the family will share their secrets of traditional Rajasthani cuisine, such as Laal Maans and Bati Choorma. End the evening by savoring a home-cooked meal with the family.
