Enjoy Kerkini Lake and Kavala City

Day 8- Hello Greece ay we will head to our southern neighbour – Greece. Our destination will be the Kerkini Lake. It is one of the premier birding sites in Greece and is situated along the migratory flyway for migratory birds en route to the Aegean Sea, the Balkan region, the Black Sea, the Hungarian steppes and beyond. It is a quiet and romantic place to enjoy nature. Later in the afternoon you will continue to the city of Kavala. It is situated on the Bay of Kavala, across from the island of Thasos. The next three days you will spend at the historical sight and now turned into a boutique hotel Imaret. In the early 19th century Mohammed Ali, founder of the final Egyptian dynasty, established an Imaret – a religious, educational and charitable institution – in his hometown of Kavala. The word “Imaret” derives from the Arabic word “imara”, which means “construction”. From the end of 1922 the spaces of the Imaret were used to house refugees. Later, it was converted into a museum, cafeteria and restaurant. In 2001, the Egyptian state gave it to a private entrepreneur so it could be fully restored and converted into a luxury hotel.
