You’ll also visit the Peace and Cultural Monument, the National Museum, and the Sierra Leone Peace Museum, which holds remnants of the country’s 11-year Civil War. Along the way, you’ll explore the Gateway to the Kings Yard and other notable sites that offer a glimpse into the country’s past. For lunch, you’ll head to Way Li (meaning “Sweet” in Fullah), a local restaurant where you can enjoy delicious traditional dishes. Afterward, you’ll drive past the State House, the official workplace of Sierra Leone’s president, which was once known as Fort Thornton. You’ll then proceed to the Parliament Building, an impressive structure built by the Israelis, where you will tour the Parliament well and other significant landmarks. In the evening, you’ll visit Susan Senesi’s renowned food initiative, a champion of women’s empowerment in Sierra Leone.
