Architectural Complex
In the morning, we drive up the famous Georgian Military Highway (leading to the Georgian-Russian border). On the way visit Ananuri architectural complex (17th century), the two churches and the fortress overlook the Zhinvali water reservoir. The carvings on the churches are one of the best samples of the Georgian art. The drive is very scenic through high Caucasus Mountains. Arrive in Stepantsminda - the main town in the region. Drive up to Gergeti Trinity church with 4WD car. Weather permitting you may catch a glimpse of one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus – Mt Kazbegi (5047m). Drive back to the town. Some free time and then, drive back to Tbilisi.
