Dine at Rules Restaurant - London's Oldest Heritage Restaurant
As part of your London itinerary, dine at Rules, the city’s oldest and one of the most iconic restaurants in the world. Established over 200 years ago, the restaurant has remained in the hands of just three families throughout its history, including during both World Wars. During the wars, Rules adapted to the times, offering rationed meals and serving game like rabbit, grouse, and pheasant, which were not subject to restrictions. Despite challenges, it continued to serve loyal customers, even with limited hours. In 1984, the restaurant was sold to its current owner, John Mayhew. Today, Rules seats 90 guests and employs an equal number of staff, providing a truly historic fine dining experience. Specializing in traditional British fare, it’s renowned for its game dishes, oysters, pies, and puddings, all served at reasonable prices. A visit to Rules is not only a culinary delight but a journey through London's rich gastronomic history.
