Desert Day Trip
Begin your day with a scenic drive north through the stunning oases of the Ziz Valley, one of the longest canyons in southern Morocco. This route was once used by desert caravans traveling safely to the northern parts of the country. As you pass through the French Foreign Legion outpost of Errachidia, you will continue on to Midelt, known for its minerals and fossils, where you’ll stop for an optional lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll be taken through the Middle Atlas mountain range, where you’ll be surprised by the sight of a cedar forest, home to some trees that are several hundred years old. This area is also inhabited by Barbary apes, and you may spot a few along the way. You’ll take a brief break at the alpine resort of Ifrane for refreshments and a leisurely stroll before continuing on to Fes, located between the Atlas and Rif Mountains, where you’ll conclude the day.
