Over to Georgia - Winery & Dine with Locals
In the morning, there will be a short tour of Sheki, visiting the historic Caravanserai, exploring the local market, and the stunning Sheki Khans Palace, renowned for its magnificent murals and glasswork. Afterward, you'll cross the Balakan/Lagodekhi border to continue your journey in to Georgia. Next, you’ll visit the Javakhishvili Winery (or a similar venue) to learn about the ancient Georgian wine-making process using clay pots, known as Qvevri, which impart an amber tint to the wine. You'll have the opportunity to taste these unique wines, along with other varieties from the region; the Qvevri wine-making tradition is recognized on the UNESCO Cultural Heritage list. For dinner, visit the home of a local painter and winemaker, where you’ll experience a welcoming family atmosphere and a meal featuring homemade dishes and locally crafted wine.
