This morning you will get to learn all about the process of growing and processing Costa Rica's golden coffee bean. After breakfast and an aromatic fresh cup of Costa Rican coffee you will be taken on a private tour along the Finca Rosa Blanca grounds. Strolling through the lanes of this organic sustainable coffee plantation, you'll learn the entire process of organic cultivation and harvest, including picking coffee during the harvest season (October - January). Later you will be taken through what is needed to process the coffee, including cleaning and drying the berries before you have a go at roasting your own in the Finca Rosa Blanca roasting house. The on-site guide, Leo, has over 20 years of experience in the coffee industry, and so much fascinating knowledge to share. His infectious enthusiasm for his craft is inspiring. After the roasting and brewing you'll have a tasting (called a cupping' in gourmet coffee terms) and discuss your blends. Enjoy a special lunch where you will experience coffee in a multitude of culinary transformations - both savory and sweet - at El Tigre Vestido, the upscale on-site open-air eatery overlooking the lush Central Valley. The menu includes a 4-course meal, including amuse-bouche, starter, main and dessert. Aside from tasting good coffee, coffee has healing, stimulating and antioxidant properties. This afternoon, you will enjoy the benefits in style with a massage at the Pura Vida Detox Spa, where coffee is the main ingredient. This treatment has been created to help detoxify your body and mind. First you will receive are laxing Swedish massage and then you will be pampered and soothed in a whole-body mask of organic coffee, vanilla and chocolate scrub. Finish your marvelous experience with a luxury mini facial.
