A Full Day of Exploring Rhodes

After your hotel pick-up, begin the day with a scenic drive through modern Rhodes, passing notable landmarks such as the Mandraki Esplanade, the government buildings, and the Church of Annunciation, built in 1925. As you approach the Mandraki Port, take in the view of the iconic deer statues marking the entrance. Your driver will then head up to Monte Smith, offering panoramic views of Rhodes and the Aegean Sea, with a distant glimpse of the Acropolis of Rhodes and the ancient stadium from the 2nd century BC. Next, head towards Rhodes Medieval City, entering through the Gate d’Amboise. You’ll begin a guided walking tour, starting with the Grand Masters Palace, built in the 14th century, destroyed in 1856, and later rebuilt by the Italians in 1939 to accommodate King Emmanuel II and Mussolini. Continue along the Street of the Knights, where you’ll see the inns once used by crusaders. At the end of the street, visit the Archaeological Museum, housed in the well-preserved Knights Hospital, built in 1440. After the tour of the Old Town, your journey continues to Lindos. On the way, you’ll pass by several picturesque villages, eventually reaching one of Rhodes’ most famous towns. Lindos is renowned for its Acropolis, perched 535 feet above the village, offering stunning views of the medieval castle, sandy beaches, and whitewashed houses. The area is also significant for its religious history, with a small chapel dedicated to Apostle Paul at St. Paul’s Bay, where he is said to have stopped during his travels. In Lindos, take a walking tour through the narrow cobbled streets, exploring its colorful courtyards and mosaics. After visiting the Acropolis, descend to the village to see the Byzantine Church of the Ascension before returning to your hotel.
